Gerry

Hey, I’m Gerry Hendrickx. Independent IT project manager and architect, computer science engineer by training, and someone who has been working in IT since 2012. I run Hendrickx Consulting out of the Mechelen region in Belgium, mostly serving clients in the Brussels area.

My career started in development at an international consultancy. Over the years I’ve worked across insurance, banking, and the public sector, gradually moving from hands-on coding into team lead, project management, and architecture roles. I try to stay close to the technical side regardless, because I genuinely believe a strong technical foundation makes you a better PM and architect.

Outside of client work, I run a homelab. Proxmox, self-hosted services, home automation, networking gear, the usual rabbit hole. It’s where a lot of my learning happens.

This blog is essentially my personal notebook, made public. When I figure something out, whether it’s a tricky config, a tool I’ve been evaluating, or a concept I needed to properly understandw I write it up here. Partly so I can find it again later. If it saves someone else a few hours of searching, even better. The topics I cover tend to cluster around:

  • Homelabbing and self-hosted infrastructure
  • Cloud architecture and development
  • Software architecture
  • Artificial intelligence and cognitive services

I’ll always link back to the docs and guides that got me started, so you can follow the same path if you want to go deeper.

Happy reading!
